Are you an experienced Permanent Way Engineer with a strong background in railway track works and site supervision? T.E.A.M Nigeria Ltd is seeking a dedicated Permanent Way Engineer to join our supervision team on the Kano-Maradi-Dutse Railway Project. The role involves overseeing track construction, turnout installation, De-stressing, flash butt welding, Aluminic thermit welding activities, and ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements on a major railway infrastructure project.

Job Description

  • Assist the Permanent Way Expert / Head of Permanent Way Department in day-to-day site supervision activities.
  • Conduct daily site visits and witness track construction activities carried out by the contractor.
  • Ensure all works comply with approved drawings, contract requirements, quality standards, and project specifications.
  • Supervise execution of track laying, turnouts, crossovers, and associated works in accordance with design alignment and levels.
  • Carry out pre- and post-welding inspections for fixed and mobile Flash Butt Welding (FBW) operations in line with approved specifications.
  • Carry out pre- and post-welding inspections for Aluminic thermit welding (ATW) operations in line with approved specifications.
  • Monitor and verify track parameters including gauge, cross level, twist, versine, and can't as per contract requirements and ITPs.
  • Supervise ballast distribution, slewing, tamping, and Stabilization works to ensure required track geometry and quality.
  • Oversee turnout installation and parameter checks in accordance with project specifications.
  • Ensure de-stressing of track is carried out at specified rail temperatures as per approved procedures.
  • Verify that all permanent way materials conform to approved material specifications and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with the contractor to ensure inspections and tests are conducted at appropriate stages as per approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Liaise with Survey, Material, Structural, Geological, and other relevant departments to maintain design position, elevation, material approval, and interface coordination.
  • Coordinate with the Client and Contractor during inspections and final handing-over of track sections.
  • Coordinate with the Safety and Quality Team to ensure compliance with project safety and quality procedures.
  • Compile daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and submit them to the Permanent Way Expert / HoD
  • Support documentation of work progress in accordance with contract requirements.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil / mechanical engineering or related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in railway track works, permanent way supervision, or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of track construction, turnout installation, ballast works, flash butt welding and Aluminic thermit supervision.
  • Familiarity with railway standards, specifications, ITPs, and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret alignment drawings, track layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Strong coordination, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in site-based and multi-location project environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with AutoCAD is an advantage.
  • Professional registration (COREN or equivalent) is an advantage.
