We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Senior Transport Design Engineer to join our Transportation Department at the Team Nigeria office in Abuja. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of road and railway infrastructure projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely execution. As a Senior Transport Design Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and review of transportation infrastructure in accordance with Nigerian, Euro, and AASHTO standards. Job Description

Railway Design:

  • Design of railway track alignment, Railway formation, stations, and yard layouts.
  • Basic understanding of P-way components and turnouts.
  • Coordination of track alignment with drainage, hydrology, and structural designs.

Roadworks Design:

  • In-depth knowledge of Nigerian and AASHTO road design standards.
  • Understanding of road construction materials and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of road geometry, pavement design, signage, and markings.
  • Coordination with drainage and bridge infrastructure for Road alignment design.
  • Preparation and review of technical drawings, specifications, and reports.

Software Proficiency:
  • Strong command of alignment design tools such as:
      • AutoCAD
      • Autodesk Civil 3D
      • Vehicle swept path analysis
      • InfraWorks
  • Capable of generating design drawings and calculating quantities.

 

Design Coordination and Review:

  • Preparation of design briefs, analysis reports, and engineering calculations.
  • Review and validation of designs prepared by other stakeholders.
  • Drafting technical notes, reports, and responses to contractor and client queries.
  • Supporting other departments with Transport-related inputs.
  • Participation in technical meetings with contractors and clients.
  • Monitoring and updating design progress reports and schedules.
  • Conducting site visits in coordination with the Supervision Team.
  • Contributing to project documentation, presentations, and integrated delivery.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering. (Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in Transportation, Railway, or Highway Engineering.)
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in road and railway design and design vetting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Capability to supervise, assess, and mentor junior staff.
